My First Hike – Epping Lookout

New to Canada? Or new to hiking? Please join us for “My First Hike”! We especially welcome new hikers from groups which have traditionally not been represented in the outdoor recreation community – including but not limited to: newcomers to Canada, Indigenous community members, members of the BIPOC community, members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
This program is intended for those new to the Bruce Trail and hiking. All new hikers are welcome, including accompanied children over 12.
We will meet at the Epping-John Muir Lookout on Grey Road 7 and begin with a short talk about the Bruce Trail and hiking. We will hike through some woods to the nearby Beaver Pond and then travel through regenerating fields. During our hike, we will discuss trail basics, navigation and safety. Feel welcome to ask questions as we go! Finally we will turn around and hike back the way we came for snacks and beverages at the pavilion.
