Edit: April 8 2025

Over the weekend of March 29-30, an ice storm caused significant damage across Ontario, including several parts of the Bruce Trail. Last week our volunteers spent some time assessing the impact, and for the safety of our Bruce Trail community, the main Bruce Trail and all side trails in the Beaver Valley section, as well as three other sections, are currently closed.

Please do not enter closed sections of the Bruce Trail. Trees weakened by the storm are posing overhead risks and debris is blocking large sections. Trail crews are at work and entering these areas puts hikers and volunteers in danger.

It may take several weeks to clear the hazards and debris to make the Bruce Trail safe and passable. Until that time, scheduled hikes and activities planned by Bruce Trail Clubs in these areas will be cancelled or postponed.

Updates will be noted in the Bruce Trail App and on brucetrail.org/trail_changes/icestorm. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
