SUMMARY:Post-AGM Hike: Kimberley Forest Side Trail / Bill's Creek
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes of trail-making for our Bruce Trail hiking pleasure? Come out to the Beaver Valley club’s post-AGM hike\, and learn about trail-making partnerships\, coordination and construction as you stroll the trail from the Beaver Valley ski club into the Kimberly Forest. We will be accompanied by Cathy Little\, who has facilitated the sharing of trails for hiking\, skiing\, biking and snowshoeing. Cathy will share some interesting stories from her 10+ years of partnership-building and will encourage discussion. \n\n\n\nOur hike offers two distances: a short 45-minute hike (2.5km) into the forest\, and a longer 1.5 hour (5km) hike to see the always-interesting karst Bill’s Creek. \n\n\n\nInterested hikers can register in advance at https://hikes.brucetrail.org/event/kimberly-forest-s-t-bills-creek/2026-06-20/ or sign-up on-site at the AGM.  \n\n\n\nHIKE INFO AND REGISTRATION

SUMMARY:Phragmites REMOVAL Work Party
DESCRIPTION:From the BVBTC Biodiversity team: \n\n\n\n“Canada’s worst invasive” plant found on local BTC land — please join a Phragmites work party! \n\n\n\nOur Club’s eagle-eyed volunteers have spotted phragmites in six local areas under BTC protection! Phragmites grows very quickly on land and in the water and poisons its local environment as it goes.  You may recall an infestation a few years back in the Collingwood area which local folks successfully eradicated over a period of a few years.   \n\n\n\nWell\, now our Club is looking at the same process. Please join our Biodiversity team volunteers and Conservation Ambassadors\, Esme Campbell and Kayla Jakobszen\, in removing a Phragmites infestation right near the beaver pond at Young Wetlands. We will use spades to dig out the plant and bag it for later destruction. You will need to have sturdy footwear and a spade. \n\n\n\nMore work parties will be necessary through August\, including ones where we will use the second technique needed with Phragmites — cutting off plant stalks underwater in order to deprive the roots of oxygen. \n\n\n\nSIGN UP FOR THIS OR OTHER PHRAGMITES REMOVAL EVENTS USING THE FORM BELOW!\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLOCATION: Park and meet on Sideroad 19\, west of Grey Rd 7 in Epping. (https://maps.app.goo.gl/VyfRNePasukjWvwY8) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nI WOULD LIKE TO HELP ON MONDAY\, July 27 AND/OR AT FUTURE PHRAGMITES WORK PARTIES!\n\n\nPlease enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form. Please enable JavaScript in your browser to complete this form.Name *FirstLastEmail * \n Specific (optional) Email\n \n \n Any Specific Questions or Requests?
