SUMMARY:2024 Eclipse Viewing
DESCRIPTION:We may not be able to catch the total eclipse in the Beaver Valley area\, but it will still be fun to watch the moon cross partly over the sun on April 8 at Kolapore Uplands. \n\n\n\nThe BVBTC has received 20 pairs of eclipse glasses from the Bruce Trail Conservancy\, allowing us to have a small group get-together – dependent on the weather – for this exciting celestial event.  \n\n\n\nThe partial eclipse takes 2 ½ hours\, so we will meet partway through the eclipse at 3:00 p.m. You can stay for as little or as long as you want – the eclipse ends at 4:30 p.m. Participants will be notified by email in the morning on the state of the sky at Kolapore that day. We will proceed if it’s sunny or partly cloudy\, and cancel if it’s overcast. \n\n\n\nWe are limited to 20 people. Please RSVP to beavervalleytrailactivities@gmail.com with your name(s). \n\n\n\nWe will meet at the Kolapore Uplands parking lot on Grey County Road 2. \n\n\n\nPlease email beavervalleytrailactivities@gmail.com if you have any questions.

SUMMARY:Astronomy at the E.C. Carr Observatory
DESCRIPTION:Did you know the RASC E.C. Carr Astronomical Observatory is the located right beside our Beaver Valley Bruce Trail? Would you like to join the Beaver Valley Bruce Trail and Royal Astronomical Society of Canada volunteers for a fun\, informative fundraising event on Friday September 22\, cloud/rain date September 23? \n\n\n\nWe need 25 participants in order to book the program so here’s what to know to peak your interest. Carr Observatory\, a local part of RASC\, a national\, non-profit\, charitable organization devoted to the advancement of astronomy and related sciences. Our club has supported E.C. Carr a number of times in past years and participants never fail to be awed by the viewing experience. There will be a non-refundable fee (unless the event needs to be cancelled by RASC) of $15.00 per person.  \n\n\n\nPlease reserve your spot by Beavervalleytrailactivities@gmail.com by August 1\, 2023 \n\n\n\nOnce we have received sufficient numbers\, you will be sent the details of the event\, including payment information. Please feel free to ask any questions in your email. \n\n\n\nGlenda CollingsTrail ActivitiesBeaver Valley Bruce Trail Club
