Important Notes
- All km mentioned are according to maps in edition 25 of the Bruce Trail Reference.
- Hike participants are expected to wear sturdy footwear.
- Always carry I.D. and your health card.
- When weather is doubtful please contact the hike leader to make sure the outing has not been cancelled or rescheduled.
- Each potluck participant is asked to bring his own dishes, cutlery, glass and drink of choice. Each participant is to bring a main dish, or a salad or dessert for at least 6 servings. The hosts will provide predinner snacks as well as tea and coffee.
- PLEASE REGISTER FOR ACTIVITIES AND POTLUCKS WITH THE LEADER AT LEAST ONE DAY BEFORE ACTIVITY.
- WINTER ADVISORY: ACTIVITIES AND POTLUCKS MAY BE CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER.

Meet at 2:00 p.m. at the Glenelg parking area (proceed west from Markdale on Grey Rd. 12, turn left onto West Back Line and after a short distance onto Hamilton Lane) for x-country skiing or at intersection of 7th Line and Sideroad 16C for snowshoeing. Sat. Mar. 13 X-Country Skiing/Snowshoeing Duntroon Highlands

T=Moderate S=Moderate
Meet at 10:00 a.m. at parking area at km 55.0 on St. Vincent-Sydenham Townline for a 13 km loop hike. Bring lunch. Register with leader: John Doyle 705-636-7428.
Rating System
Terrain (T):
Easy: mostly flat and good footing
Moderate: Some hills and/or some poor footing
Strenuous: Hilly with steep climbs and some poor footing
Speed (S): Leisurely=2 to 3 km/hr, Moderate=3 to 4 km/hr, Fast=5 km/hr or over
Important Please register for activities and potlucks with the leader at least one day before activity.
Trail user's code
- Hike only along marked routes, especially on farmland.
- Do not take shortcuts.
- Do not climb fences - use the stiles.
- Respect the privacy of people living along the Trail.
- Leave the Trail cleaner than you found it.
- Carry out all litter.
- No open fires are allowed on the Trail - use a portable stove.
- Leave flowers and plants for others to enjoy.
- Do not damage live trees or stip off bark.
- Keep dogs on a leash and under control at all times.
- Protect and do not disturb wildlife.
- Leave only your thanks, and take nothing but photographs.
Essential Gear for Day Hikes
1. Daypack or Fanny Pack: to carry the folllowing:
• 2 litres of water minimum, in a Nalgene bottle
• food (snacks an d lunch).
• closed cell foam square for sitting on
• Fox 40 whistle
• small first aid/blister kit
• kleenex/toilet paper
• medium zip lock bag for garbage
• plastic bags (grocery) for muddy boots
• disposable rain poncho
• spare set of car keys
• identification and health card
• money
• trail maps & road maps for area of hike
• protective pack rain cover

2. Water proofed hiking boots
3. 2-pair sock system (liner sock + hiking sock, prevents blisters (no cotton!)
4. Sun screen and insect repellent (seasonal)
5. Jacket with hood (seasonal)
6. Your favourite hiking clothes - no cotton
7. Hiking stick(s)
8. Gaiters (ankle or knee high) (seasonal)
9. Umbrella (seasonal - rain or sun protection)
10. Hat (seasonal)
Note: all items that are not weatherproof should be stored
separately in zip-lock bags to keep them protected.
